How do I translate a photo with Linga Chat?

To translate a photo with Linga Chat, open the photo translation tool, point your camera at the text or pick an image from your gallery, and Linga Chat reads the text and shows it translated into your language.

Photo translation is handy for menus, street signs, product labels and printed notes while you travel or study. It is one of Linga Chat's four translation tools, and it is free to start on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android and Windows.

  1. Open photo translationIn Linga Chat, open the photo translation tool. You can use your camera live or choose a picture you already have in your gallery.
  2. Point at the text or pick an imageAim the camera at a menu, sign, label or document, or select a saved photo that has text in it. Keep the writing in frame and reasonably clear.
  3. Let Linga Chat read the textLinga Chat detects the printed text in the image automatically, so you do not have to type anything out by hand.
  4. Read the translationThe text appears translated into your language. Choose your target language among the 27 supported, and you are ready to understand what it says.
