Linga Chat (the "Platform") places the utmost importance on your privacy and the security of your personal data in the mutual language-learning and exchange services we provide through our mobile application.
1.1. Data Responsibility
Information in your user profile — such as your age, gender, the languages you know and want to learn, and your daily practice goals — is shared with other platform users so that language-partner matching can be performed. In line with our privacy principles, your private messages and your conversations in voice rooms are never sold or shared with third parties or advertisers.
1.2. Device Permissions
While using the app, the following permissions are required on your device:
- Camera and Gallery: Used so you can upload a profile photo or share images during chat.
- Microphone: Required so you can practice in voice chat rooms and send voice messages.
- Location: Used to accurately detect and list active language partners near you.
- Notifications: Used to provide instant updates about new matches, messages, and contest invitations.
1.3. Categories of Data We Collect
Depending on how you use the app, we process the following categories of personal data:
- Account data: email address, phone number, date of birth, name, bio, and profile photo.
- Location data: approximate latitude/longitude and derived city/country, used for nearby-partner matching.
- Device data: a hashed device identifier, IP address, application version, and push-notification token.
- Usage data: in-app activity events, crash reports, and session information, used to keep the service stable and to improve it.
Your private messages and your conversations in voice rooms are never sold or shared with third parties or advertisers.
1.4. Account Deletion and Data Retention
You can deactivate your profile or delete your account entirely at any time from the in-app settings menu. Both self-service account deletion and data deletion are available inside the application. The personal data of deleted accounts is permanently removed from our systems.
1.5. Advertising and Third-Party Vendors
We do not show ads on our website (lingachat.com); ads appear inside the Linga Chat app after you sign in, served by Google AdMob on the free tier, and a Plus, Gold or Premium subscription switches them off. The Google AdSense script does run on our web pages, so Google advertising cookies may be set there. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies and mobile advertising identifiers to serve and measure ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites or apps. Advertisers never receive your private messages, your voice-room conversations or your contact details: ad selection relies on the cookie and identifier data collected by Google, not on the content of your conversations. On the web, advertising cookies are set only after you accept the "Marketing" category in our cookie banner; on iOS you may additionally decline app tracking.
